I see you...

👍You're already doing the work....

🤔 You lift weights three times a week. You do your 10,000 steps. You eat your protein. You've ticked every box you've been told will protect you from midlife decline.

😥 You’re the woman who would rather go for a hike than sit on the couch, who lifts weights because you like feeling strong, and who still signs up for the run, even though lately you’re wondering how your hip will feel tomorrow.

You've tried physio. You've done the exercises. You've stretched. But lately you’ve started doing that little calculation before every workout: “Can I push today, or will I pay for it for the next three days?” You roll out of bed carefully, take a breath before that first step, and tell yourself the stiffness, tight hips and cranky lower back are probably just part of getting older.  😓

And nothing has stuck. Nothing has actually fixed the problem.  😮‍💨

But you’re not ready to become the woman who has to avoid the things she loves because she can’t trust her body to keep up.

You're treating the symptom. Your body needs you to fix the cause.

You’re doing the squats. You’re doing the glute bridges your physio gave you. You’re stretching your hip flexors, rolling your glutes, strengthening your core and trying to remember the exercises you’re supposed to do every day.

You can even have a few good weeks where your back feels better, so you head out for that longer hike or add some weight to your squats… only to wake up the next morning stiff, sore and wondering, “What did I do wrong?”

So you start holding back. You stop pushing as hard. You think twice before signing up for the hike. You turn the run into a walk. You brace yourself before getting out of bed. You avoid sitting on the floor. Not because you don't love being active, but because every flare-up makes you trust your body a little less.

And to be honest, the hardest part isn’t even the pain. It’s becoming the woman who hesitates. The woman who checks the distance before agreeing to the hike, holds back when she wants to push and makes decisions based on what might hurt tomorrow.

Here's why

1.You're still training your body like it's pre-menopause

❌ You’re doing your usual the squats, lunges, deadlifts, runs and the odd bit of stretching like you always have. But when oestrogen drops during menopause ,your joints, ligaments and tendons are affected by this too, and your body needs longer to recover after hard workouts. So your usual workouts are causing you to put to much stress on your body then it has time to recover from.

Which is why you can't run because your knees all of a sudden have started complaining, or say yes to the hike without doing the mental maths, and push yourself without that little voice asking, "what's this going to feel like tomorrow?"

2. Your straining your lower back not strengthening your core

You’re doing your planks, bridges, bird dogs and back exercises because you’ve been told a stronger core will fix your lower back.

But this keeps the focus on your back instead of building the strength in your hips and movement in your upper back that your lower back needs to stop doing all the work.So when you run, squat or hike, your lower back keeps taking over, which is why you start thinking twice before saying yes to the weekend hike, holding back on your run, or wondering whether you’ll make it through the next day without your back flaring up.

3. You're stretching hips that need to get stronger

You’re stretching your hip flexors, rolling out your glutes and doing hip-opening exercises because your hips always feel tight.

But this is giving your hips a way to feel looser without building the
strength they need to take the impact when you run, squat and hike, which is why you can’t finish a run and still feel good walking around that afternoon or get to the top of a hike without your hip being the thing you’re thinking about.

What you need instead...

✨ You don’t need to stop running, get a new mattress, lift lighter weights or spend hours piecing together exercises from your physio, YouTube and Instagram.

You need a simple weekly routine that gives your menopausal body the right mix of strength, mobility and recovery.

That's why I created

Hi, I'm Dorte 👋

I'm a Pilates teacher with more than 16 years of experience working with active women.

I've been where you are. Doing loads of cardio. Doing the odd random workout. Stretching when I remembered. And constantly dealing with niggles, tight hips, and a lower back I could never fully get on top of.

The frustration of thinking that being fit and active was something I was forced to give up due to injuries. It felt like I was loosing part of my identity.

I fell in love with Pilates because it completely changed what my body was capable of.

I went from trips to the physio in my 30s to running my 6th half marathon at 51. At an age where so many women struggle with aches, pains, and feeling like the tin man first thing in the morning, I feel like I'm only just getting started. While everyone my age are talking about when they are retiring.

For years, I taught Pilates the standard way. Progress clients to harder exercises. Make them stronger. Keep moving forward. And it worked, until it didn't.

I started noticing a pattern. Some clients got better. Others stayed stuck with tight hips and recurring back pain, no matter how advanced their practice became.

Then I felt it in my own body. I was running, doing Pilates, making all the right shapes, and my hips were still stiff. My lower back still wasn't right.

That's when I could see it everywhere. Women grinding through advanced Pilates and high-intensity training while the wrong muscles fired, while their hips stayed locked and their backs compensated, training the bad patterns deeper at a higher level.

The standard approach worked as long as the goal was progression. But it missed something fundamental.

What people needed wasn't harder exercises. They needed to slow down to the intensity where their body had space to learn the right patterns. To focus on the details. Is the right muscle connecting? Can the hip move three-dimensionally? Is the back stealing movement?

They needed to feel what was actually working, because grinding through reps using the wrong muscles just perpetuates the compensation.

My method isn't about doing more advanced work. It's about building foundational patterns that let active women keep doing everything they love without their body breaking down.

I've taken my 30 years of being fit and active and my 16 years of experience as a Pilates teacher and built a membership that helps you go from feeling stiff and achy to waking up strong, energised, and ready to move through your day like an athlete.

Whether that's crushing a workout, chasing your kids or grandkids, or finally booking that hiking trip.

I’m here to help you feel strong, move freely, and love the way your body works and feels every day at every age. Let’s do this together!
